When I was a younger lad, time-signatures meant more to me than anything else. A band’s merit could be judged pretty accurately on the complexity of the time-signature adopted, and would increase exponentially the number of times it changed in a song. Add in a polyrhythm or three, and you had me running around my room in near orgiastic fervor, proclaiming in a high, croaky voice of belated puberty and over-excitement, that said band was the modern disciple of Schoenberg.
